Something to Halcrow about

Letters

I was pleased to read your article on WSP's Taskforce (NCE 8 November) as for almost 25 years now, Halcrow has also encouraged employees to contribute to its management and strategic development through the Halcrow Group staff council.

All staff are eligible to sit on the council and there are now around 40 representatives in the UK and a further 20 in the Middle East and Pacific Rim.

Each is elected by their colleagues to serve for a two year term to represent their views at regular workshops, which are attended by our chairman and other invited senior managers.

These provide an open, and often frank, forum for communication and exchange of ideas between all staff and management.

The staff council is also invited to attend Halcrow's annual development seminar, when senior managers from around the world gather to discuss the future direction of the group. It ensures staff have access to senior management and can debate the 'big ideas' which affect them and their working environment.
