Joint venture contractor Costain/Norwest Holst has completed a highly complex operation to install two massive concrete ship impact beams on the £40M Hungerford Bridge project in London. The 40m long 250t beams - each reinforced with a universal column - will resist 30MN, almost 10 times more than the existing structure.
