Small rise in construction output

Construction output for the second quarter (Q2) of the year was the same as in 2005, and was 1% higher than in the first quarter (Q1) of the year, the Department for Trade & Industry has reported.
New work rose in all sectors except infrastructure and public building, excluding housing.New construction work in the private industrial sector was 11% higher compared with the previous year, but fell by 1% in Q2 against Q1.New private commercial work was 7% higher in Q2 compared to the previous year and was five per cent higher in Q2 this year than in Q1.But new work in the public non-housing sector (excluding infrastructure) fell by 8% compared to the previous year, and by 3% compared with the previous quarter.
