Slowing market conditions in the UK hit profit margins at ground engineering specialist Keller during the first half of 1998. UK turnover for the first six months was pounds34.3M, up 13% on the same period in 1997, but operating profit fell 22% to pounds1.4M. Overall, turnover was up 6% at pounds125.1M, while pre-tax profit soared 14% to pounds5.3M.
