Contractor Skanska is to build an £80M barracks complex for the Ministry of Defence at Woodbridge in Suffolk. As prime contractor the company will be responsible for assembling and managing the entire supply chain from design upwards.

The barracks will house the newly formed 23 Engineer Regiment which supports rapid reaction forces.

Performance results for the first full year of Network Rail have revealed the best train performance for four years, with delays attributed to the rail operator falling from 14.7M minutes to 13.7M. The results for the year ending 31 March 2004 also showed a 50% increase in points renewed, a 36% increase in rail renewed and a 25% decrease in broken rails.

The eastbound M62 in Yorkshire will be closed at Ferrybridge this weekend while new bridge support beams are lifted into place to carry it over the new A1(M). The closure will be the first of several this summer as the Holmford interchange is constructed.
