Six engineers to the Darfur region

Six engineers have been sent to the Darfur region of western Sudan by the engineering disaster relief charity RedR. They will work for international aid agencies who say a massive humanitarian crisis is unfolding with up to a million refugees driven out of their villages by fighting. Water and sanitation provision is urgently needed. Most of the volunteers will stay for up to three months. REDR says it has had requests by aid agencies for another 11 engineers.
