Site surveillance

Online Remote Camera Application (ORCA) has been developed specifically for construction by webcam specialist CamVista to provide instant visual access to site from the office using any standard PC and internet browser.

The benefits of ORCA are beyond doubt, according to CamVista chief executive Robert Kilgour. 'We have estimated that savings on a major project using ORCA can range from more than £65,000 over 12 months to £151,000 over three years. It is a classic no-brainer' he says.

ORCA offers tangible savings by cutting time and travel costs, and also by improving operational management and health and safety monitoring, resolving contractual disputes, and by reducing theft, Kilgour claimed.

'ORCA delivers large, high quality, live images and enables the user to pan, tilt and zoom around the site in real time while being able to archive off key images for future reference, ' said Kilgour.

'Through ORCA, clients can keep track of deliveries to the site, watch out for theft, spot dangerous practices which could lead to accidents and gather evidence in the event of any future contractual dispute.'
