John Sisk has been picked for the £39M infrastructure phase one contract at Port Salford in Greater Manchester.

The contractor will deliver a range of civil engineering works at the site, situated between the Manchester to Liverpool rail line and the Manchester Ship Canal.

The project, which will include work on Network Rail land, had previously been costed at £32M.

Port Salford is being developed by Peel Group, and the whole scheme is worth £138M. It will feature the UK’s first tri-modal – served by road, rail and sea shipping – inland port facility and distribution park. Port Salford is part of the wider Atlantic Gateway development.
