Singapore has celebrated breakthrough of a link connection into its enormous Deep Tunnel Sewerage System, the first phase of which opens in 2008. This comprises 48km of deep tunnel, an 800,000m3/s water treatment plant at Changi, and a 5km sea outfall. A second processing station will be added eventually. The Kim Chjuan Link Sewer is the first connection of the upper sewer reticulation network to the system.
