While we may all be concerned to improve road safety, it appears to me that there is as yet no evidence to show whether concealed or obvious speed cameras are best able to achieve the desired result.

In any case the choice between these alternatives is not an engineering matter, and I feel our president is totally out of order in taking sides (and, by inference, showing the Institution to be taking sides) on the matter (NCE 20 June).

I wonder if he also feels that police officers should all be disguised and all police cars unmarked.
