Shortlist announced for British Construction Industry Awards 2013

The shortlist has been announced for the British Construction Industry Awards 2013.

With visits from members of the expert judging panel, 4 new and updated categories and finalists facing dragon’s den interviews with our industry experts, these awards carry unrivalled gravitas and recognise excellence across a range of disciplines.

The British Construction Industry Awards are an established and coveted industry accolade recognising overall excellence in the delivery of building and civil engineering infrastructure projects.

Once again the BCI Awards programme will include the coveted Prime Minister’s Award for Better Public Buildings.

The rigorous judging process includes a visit, as always, to every shortlisted entrant in the building and civil engineering project categories by members of the expert judging panel.

The 26th BCI Awards will be presented at a gala dinner on 9 October 2013 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

The Major Project awarded is sponsored by Arup

Arup is an independent global firm offering a broad range of professional services. Our designers, planners, engineers, managers, consultants and technical specialists believe in creating value for our clients and making a positive difference in the world.

We design with the future in mind and have a reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable designs that respond positively to the built environment.

A commitment to the environment and to the communities in which we work has always been at the heart of our ethos. We are acutely aware that design has a huge influence on the world around us, and that this carries with it a responsibility to do the best possible job for current and future generations. This should result in projects that not only work for clients, but are also successful for the people who use them, live in them or work in and around them.

For the 2013 BCI Awards, Arup is proud to sponsor the Major Building Project - over £50M category.

Projects of this magnitude – whether education centres, offices, arts and culture facilities, transport hubs or sport venues – inevitably have an impact beyond the building itself, and help to support communities and create new spaces. We place great importance on seeing projects through from conception to completion and into their legacy use: this is a significant challenge for large, complex building projects and we support the BCI Awards in celebrating some of the best.

  • It is rather shocking that in a news item of the New Civil Engineer, several of our large engineering consultancies are described as "Architects"! Well below the journalistic standards we should expect....
