Severe skills crisis in construction industry


The construction industry is heading for a severe skills crisis unless it can improve its image, research by Tarmac warned this week. In a study of 1,600 people across the UK, 75% said they would not consider a career in construction. Interviewees said the industry is too physically challenging, there is a lack of job security, pay is too low and there is a lack of prestige.
