Seven on the way up Manu Kukadia

Recruitment profile

Carl Bro's transportation division is expanding rapidly, and a man with a vision to drive that growth even further is new technical director Manu Kukadia.

He joined the company nine months ago after 15 years with a well-known structural engineering consultant.

'A lot of things about Carl Bro are very refreshing. I've found everybody very professional but also so approachable. In how many other companies can you walk through the office and talk to the CEO-' Also refreshing for Kukadia is the range of work. In the short time since his arrival he has already been active in the £1.29bn South West Yorkshire scheme to design options for more innovative use of the M1/ M62 motorways, and feasibility design for widening the M60.

Carl Bro is also a lead consultant on the £500M redevelopment of Victoria Harbour in Hartlepool. Kukadia's team has been looking at options for a pedestrian/cycle bridge that must span 140m across the harbour and lift 50m to allow port traffic to pass beneath.

'It's been a very exciting time, ' he says. 'Each project has a buzz about it, and I look forward to coming here each day.'
