Settling Scores

I was surprised to read Mr Martin's letter (Costain: 1 Skanska: 0). I cannot comment on the treatment he has received from the contractor but ICE Kent and East Sussex branch organised a successful Graduates and Students site visit to the A2 Pepperhill to Cobham scheme on 5 June.

The nine graduates who attended had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and were shown all around the site, given lunch and invited back for a second visit.

Kent and East Sussex branch have organised a number of successful site visits in recent months including one to the A2 / A282 scheme to which he refers. We would welcome suggestions from our members for future site visits.

Following last week’s letter, we have contacted the contractor Skanska who has stated that it are more than happy to give a second guided tour to Institution members.

Robert James, chair ICE Kent and East Sussex Graduates and Students, c/o Room G05, Building L19, University of Reading, London Road, Reading, RG1 5AQ
