Self certification: debatable response

Letters

I note that Messrs McNaughton and Little would not have fared too well if your self certification question had been set in an examination (NCE 6 April). They failed to address what I believe is the most important half of the question - the impact of self certification on safety.

Pressure to deliver has never rested easily with safety and quality, as many incident investigations confirm. The appropriate use of a competent inspection facility can only complement the efforts of a contractor to ensure safety and deliver quality.
