Second successive annual reduction


Department of Trade & Industry figures published last week showed a second successive annual reduction in new infrastructure output and in improvements to existing infrastructure assets.

New infrastructure output for 2004 is down to £6.5bn, 12% down on 2003. The volume of work in 2004 is down 13%, to the lowest level for 15 years.

The DTI said that the figures for 2004 showed a 4% rise in overall construction output in 2004.
