MARINE GEOTECHNICAL drilling and civil engineering contractor Seacore has terminated its long-standing joint venture with contractor Fugro.
The firm will now offer a wide range of investigation techniques, either in house or through established co-operation agreements with approved subcontractors.
For example, the firm will continue to offer drilling, testing and sampling for nearshore geotechnical work but will now also provide geotechnical supervision, laboratory testing and reporting.
One collaboration is with cone penetration testing contractor Lankelma CPT. The firms have joined forces to create Lankelma Seacore Offshore to provide an offshore CPT service (GE April 2002).
LSO is developing ultra deepwater wireline CPT equipment and a low cost 'corecone' system, capable of alternating between rotary core sampling and cone testing in the same hole.
The firm also has co-operation agreements with subcontractor Webber Associates, the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute and Geodelft of the Netherlands for more sophisticated laboratory testing and reporting.
Seacore Exploration can carry out land-based deep and large diameter site investigation coring using its new automated Comacchio rotary drilling rig.
