Scottish motorway opens to public

The new M80 Stepps to Haggs dual carriageway is now open to the public after just under three years of construction.

The final commissioning of the scheme is due by October 2011. The scheme involved 10km of online widening and 8km of offline new motorway.

The £320M Transport Scotland project, a joint venture between Bilfinger Berger, Graham Construction and Farrans Construction (HMC) connects an 18km stretch between Stirling and Glasgow which is one of the busiest road corridors in Scotland.

Grontmij is the lead designer to the Highway Management Contractors (HMC).
