I have borrowed publications from the ICE library on a number of occasions and refund, with a degree of reluctance, the postage incurred. However, I have recently been advised that a minimum photocopy charge of £5 applies to copies of articles with single copies charged at 20p.
I live and work in Scotland and do not have the opportunity to make regular personal use of the facilities at One Great George Street. Sourcing publications and articles from the library by post is the only avenue available to me.
Members in the London area have the opportunity to make use of the library, meeting rooms and the excellent dining facilities at HQ. While paying the same annual subscription, regional members cannot make use of such facilities.
Staff costs are built into the annual budget so time charges in supporting member services should not apply.
In light of the increase in annual subscription planned for 2006, I take exception to having to continue to refund postage and particularly to refund what I consider to be an extremely high charge for in-house photocopy facilities.
