Scott Wilson widens remit with Knight Piesold takeover

SCOTT WILSON this week took over fellow consultant Knight Piesold to boost its position in the power, environmental, mining and tunnelling sectors.

The acquisition of the 500 strong consultant fills gaps in Scott Wilson's skills portfolio. It is particularly geared towards winning more work in the growing renewable energy and environmental engineering markets, on overseas hydro and underground transport projects, said former Knight Piesold chairman and director of the newly named Scott Wilson Piesold (SWP), Peter Garratt.

The greater market profile and bank balance of Scott Wilson will also help SWP secure work, Garratt added.

Knight Piesold has found itself squeezed out of contention for the larger projects it has bid for.

'It doesn't enable us to take on projects that are any bigger than in the past, but it will help us to win them.'

Garratt refused to disclose how much the takeover has cost but revealed that the deal was financed by Scott Wilson handing over a percentage of its shares to Knight Piesold.
