Scott Wilson buys into health expertise

SCOTT WILSON was last week the latest consultant to target the growing health and education sectors when it bought Midlands structures firm Peel & Fowler.

The move follows the announcement last month that Mott MacDonald was targeting the same sector following its merger with Franklin & Andrews (NCE 16 May).

Scott Wilson said it bought 20 strong Peel & Fowler because of its strong links with the health and education sectors in the Midlands and south Lancashire.

The consultant expects demand to grow in this region on the back of repeated government promises to boost spending on hospitals and schools.

'Peel & Fowler already has a lot of framework agreements with the local health authorities and NHS Trusts, ' said Scott Wilson director Robin Hawley.

Merging with a firm with specific health expertise was vital to Scott Wilson's efforts to boost its sector presence, he added. Peel & Fowler would offer specialist knowledge of often demanding design codes that apply to sensitive areas of hospitals, such as operating theatres.
