Scotland first as Defence Estates starts prime tenders

DEFENCE ESTATES is putting the first of its 13 regional prime contracts out to tender this month.

The £200M-£300M Scotland prime contract is for all capital works, facilities management and maintenance work at over 400 sites owned by the Ministry of Defence. Bidders will provide a 'one stop shop' service over a five year period (NCE 9 March).

DE, the Ministry of Defence's construction procurement and estates management arm, is to let a further 12 prime contracts, ranging in value from £50M to £400M, from now until 2004, said commercial director Ted Pearson.

Expressions of interest in the Scotland contract have to be returned by December.
