Salary stick

In my opinion ICE is acting without consideration to its members. They refuse to enter into a debate on salaries stating that to do so would influence the market place and as a later, I realised that I was not wanted, even though I was willing to take a pay cut. I ended up as a shelf-stacker in a supermarket.

In mid-2000 I tried one more time to find job in my profession and was surprised to be offered a job with Babtie.

Why did they do it? I can only put it in my terms. They got a person who is experienced, mature, reliable, willing and not liable to job hop. What did I get? A job I believe I am good at, working with people who I respect and who respect me; a reasonable salary and - more importantly - my self esteem back.

In my opinion, older people are a better bet than the younger graduates. They have less financial requirements, a settled background and most of their ambitions achieved. All they ask is to be given a chance.
