Thousands of commuting motorists in Greater Manchester should start enjoying faster journeys to work next week following Monday's opening of the city's new M60 outer ring road. As the largest orbital motorway box bar London's M25, the 56km ring road will immediately attract over 80,000 vehicles/day.

Some 70% of the ring road already exists as separate motorway routes and opening of the total box, now all renamed M60, is triggered by completion of the £220M eastern section, sealing the final 17km gap.
