Running for railways

THE CLOSING date to enter next year's top railway engineering competition is fast approaching.

Railway Engineer of the Year applicants must show a major contribution to engineering or management in their synopsis of up to 750 words.

Short listed candidates will be notified in April and final papers required by June 1999. Each paper should contain 2,000 words

and will be assessed for presentation; technical content; contribution to railway technology and commercial significance on a given project.

Three finalists will present their papers to the awards panel at the ICE in September 1999.

The winner will receive a medal and 500. Two runners up will receive 150 each.
