RPS snaps up Australian consultant

Environmental consultant RPS has bought Harper Somers O'Sullivan (HSO), an environmental consultancy based in New South Wales, Australia for £2.3M.
The firm has also snapped up UK based health and safety consultant Thonger Safety Associates (TSA) for £2.5M.In the year ended 30 June 2006 HSO had revenues of A$4.25M (£1.7M) and profit before tax of £400,000. The three directors of HSO and its 40 staff will all be remaining with RPS. HSO will work alongside RPS's existing environmental planning business in Perth, Western Australia. RPS said that its expected to further develop its Australian activities with additional acquisitions.TSA trades as Geophysical Safety Resources or 'GSR' and provides health, safety and environmental services to the oil and gas industry. It operated in collaboration with Exploration Consultants (ECL) before that business was acquired by RPS in September 2005 and has subsequently continued to work with RPS Energy. Rod Thonger, the managing partner, will remain with RPS.In the year ended 30 November 2005 TSA had revenues of £2.4M and profit before tax of £400,000.
