Royal HaskoningDHV wins Brazil tunnel contract

Marine infrastructure specialist Royal HaskoningDHV has this week been awarded a €5M (£4.2M) contract for an immersed tunnel between Santos and Guaruja in Brazil.

The firm is leading the design of 500m long tunnel. The tunnel is being proposed to relieve the burden on ferry services and reduce driving time between the two cities.

Brazil: The immersed tunnel is the first of its kind in the country

Plans for a bridge between Santos and Guaruja were shelved when a tunnel was found to be cheaper and better for the city.
