Rolls-Royce expands nuclear capabilities

Power systems firm Rolls-Royce is expanding its nuclear capabilities with its acquisition of US leading civil nuclear reactor firm R Brooks Associates today.

Following on from a tie-up with French nuclear reactor vendor Areva, Rolls-Royce has bought the nuclear firm for $14M (£8.6M).

According to the firm, the acquisition will help accelerate Rolls-Royce’s presence in civil nuclear.

“Our investment in Brooks is a further step towards growing our global civil nuclear business,” said Rolls Royce nuclear president Lawrie Haynes.
