Richard Bettridge

Richard Bettridge, managing director of Cobham-based consulting engineer Bettridge, Turner & Partners, has been an expert witness for five years. It is something he drifted into, he says, having already established his reputation in design management. He would nevertheless encourage civil engineers in senior management to become an expert witness, he says. 'The remuneration is certainly at the right level and there is a great deal of satisfaction to be gained from explaining to non-engineers what normally happens in the engineering world and in so doing, working with other experts to solve complicated legal problems.'
