Fehmarnbelt tunnel linking Denmark and Germany approved

The Fehmarnbelt tunnel design incorporating both road and rail into an integrated tunnel is just the sort of design solution that should be used for the proposed Lower Thames crossing in the UK. Without such joined-up thinking in the planning of UK infrastructure the country will miss opportunities to create infrastructure systems that provide enhanced benefits for investments made and also miss opportunities to encourage significant shifts towards more environmentally friendly transport modes. .
