Report reveals best practice

A new report on best practice in concrete foundations has been produced by construction industry research body CIRIA.

The report is the result of a series of working groups made up of leading consultants, contractors and academics led by Mott McDonald and represents the current state of the art. It provides the designer, contractor and concrete producer with best practice for piles, diaphragm walls, and pad, strip and raft foundations.

It includes the latest findings of the Thaumasite research group and BRE research into sulphate attack of concrete foundations. Environmental issues and sustainable construction practices are also discussed.
