Report recommendations

All geospatial data to be recorded using the Digital National Framework (DNF) system.

Within three years new installations or replacement works to be recorded in 3D.

Existing buried apparatus recorded within the DNF geographical information system (GIS).

GIS information will identify the nature of buried apparatus and the responsible body (including emergency contact).

An entity to take on responsibility for recording the location of unidentified buried objects.

A dedicated champion to continue development of a common framework.

Adoption of a common framework based on the DNF will safeguard commercial confidentiality and will ensure security of information.
