Relocating Department of the Environment Transport and the Regions staff from 1 Marsham Street and satellite accommodation in London to Eland House and Ashdown House in Victoria cost £67.4M, Environment minister Angela Eagle told MPs last week. The government has approved plans for the £355M removal of radioactive waste from an underground shaft at Scotland's Dounreay nuclear facility (NCE 5 March). The project is expected to create 400 jobs. Work could involve freezing ground around the shaft before removing the waste.
