I refer to the correspondence (NCE 27 May) concerning CSCS cards and, in particular, to the letter from RP Wilson.

It is disappointing that Mr Wilson has not heard of the ICE's Health & Safety Register.

When launched by Liz Bennett, chair of the Health & Safety Board, it was mentioned in the NCE and has twice been mentioned in the ICE News section.

The last ICE Newsletter e-mailed to Members also featured the Health & Safety Register. Details have been sent to all regions.

Admittance to the Register is achieved through a three-step process - an application, an interview by senior members of the Institution who are themselves members of the Register, and an 'open book' written assignment.

Applicants will need a sound working knowledge of the relevant regulations and design processes plus experience of the site processes likely to be involved in construction, maintenance, refurbishment or demolition.

For full details and an application form go to the ICE web site at: www. ice. org. uk/ knowledge/downloads_health. asp Roger Ball (F), ICE Register working party, 14 Avonborne Way, Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, Hampshire, SO53 1TF
