ICE News

From a record 16 strong field, the Arup Campus has emerged as overall winner of the annual Midlands association Project Award (TOP RIGHT). The silver rose bowl trophy was presented by Birmingham Post editor Dan Mason, sponsor of the event. Certificates for best in categories were presented by ICE President Mark Whitby to Coventry City Council for its Phoenix Initiative (RIGHT), and WS Atkins for the reconstruction of the Bilston Road railway bridge in Wolverhampton (ABOVE). A special Industry Best Practice Award went to Severn-Trent Water's Risk management in capital projects. Among the entries from across the region were, for the first time, two desk studies, and a submission by the Herefordshire & Gloucestershire Canal Trust whose project had been carried out almost entirely by volunteers at 10% of the normal cost.
