RedR challenges teams to enter Civils 2002 contest

REDR has thrown down the gauntlet to engineers to show their prowess as relief providers in a competition to be held at Civils 2002 next June.

The RedR challenge will involve up to 50 teams competing in a league running throughout the exhibition, organised by NCE, which runs from 11-13 June at the NEC in Birmingham.

Teamwork and strategic thinking will be required in the challenges, that will all contribute towards continuing professional development which RedR regards as vital for engineers wishing to get involved in disaster relief.

Teams are likely to be asked to tackle missions across the West Midlands.

As well as adding a fun dimension to Civils 2002, it is hoped the competition will raise RedR's profile and raise funds into the bargain.

The event will be officially launched in January 2002 with an entry form in NCE, and the challenges themselves will be revealed in February.
