One of RedR's largest fundraising events is set to take place at Civils 2002 at the NEC in Birmingham on 12 June.

The RedR Challenge is a half-day competition that will see teams of four compete in a battle of skill, ingenuity and endurance against the clock.

Fifty teams have agreed to compete in the event set in a simulated disaster relief situation. it will highlight the issues faced by relief personnel on assignment. The challenge will test the teams' skills in problem solving, communication, logical and tactical decision making, as well as their fitness and ability.

Among the firms already entered are WSP Group, TPS Consult, Whitby Bird & Partners, Buro Happold, WS Atkins and Arup, which is the founding corporate sponsor of the RedR Challenge. Each team pays £500 to enter and is encouraged to raise extra cash through sponsorship. Corporate sponsors pay £2,000 and receive a range of benefits.
