Record results

WS ATKINS has reported record-breaking results again this year with adjusted pre-tax profit up 14% to £30.5M and turnover up 12% on last year to £365.8M.

Despite the South East Asian currency crisis, Atkins boosted turnover from its international customers from £57M to £69M. A contribution of 56% of group operating profit was made by the infrastructure services division which increased turnover by 5%.

Atkins chief executive Mike Jeffries said the group's commitment to private finance schemes was shown by its increased shareholding in the Connect road building consortium.
