Reading station piling clears the way for next phase

Piling work for a new rail viaduct to carry mainline trains over freight and relief lines as part of the Reading station redevelopment is close to being completed.

Installation of the final CFA piles for the structure by Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering will clear the way for vibro ground improvement to get underway to support the access ramps.

Much of the work to install the 980 piles has been carried out within 15m of the live rail line, so safety and logistics planning have been a key part of the project.
