Raymond Brown wins £5M coastal defence contract

Havant Borough Council has awarded contractor Raymond Brown a £5M to construct the Eastoke Point coastal defence in southern England, the firm announced today.

The new scheme will replace an eroding stretch of coastline protecting about 1,800 homes.

Work will include the construction of a revetment using rock armour, three rock groynes and 35,000t of beach recharge. There will also be improvements to the promenade and remedial works to the splash wall.

“Raymond Brown is delighted to have been selected by Havant borough Council to undertake these works,” said Raymond Brown’s managing director Guy Hardacre. “This is a high profile project which strengthens our position as a key contractor in the coastal and maritime engineering sector.”

Work is due to start in May and be completed in October.
