Raising awareness

With reference to Paul Hodgson's letter (NCE 8 February), I am in a group taking part in this year's Henry Palmer Award, run by the ICE.

As engineers we are preparing a new and exciting project and website to target local schoolchildren aged 11 to 13.

In an attempt to increase awareness and interest in the variety of challenges encompassed within our profession, we are targeting the environment and sustainability issues.

If more graduate engineers participated in such innovative ICE projects, there would be less concern as to the sustainability of our own industry.

Rob Winser,
