railway workers injured

Three railway workers were injured last Saturday night when a passing train struck a lighting tower they were carrying. The workers were walking on a path alongside the track at Point Pleasant junction near Wandsworth when the 00.18 Waterloo to Strawberry Hill train caught the edge of the tower. The men were taken to hospital suffering from leg fractures and bruising. Site staff and signal box workers have been suspended pending an investigation.
