Railtrack has expertise - use it


With reference to the NCE 500 question 'Does it matter that Gerald Corbett has no engineering background?'

(NCE 26 October), the answer would appear to lie in the report directly below on the same page.

The Railtrack board needs to recognise when management consultants like McKinseys are giving bad advice. Railtrack may be a multi billion pound plc, but its first priority is to move people and goods safely, not cheaply. I suspect there are a number of Railtrack staff who know rather more than McKinseys about broken rails.
