Plans to set up an independent Rail Accident Investigation Branch moved forward this week with the Railways & Transport Safety (RTS) Bill getting its first reading in the House of Commons. Creation of the branch was one of the key recommendations of the Cullen Report into the Ladbroke Grove disaster. The bill should come into force by the end of the year.
