Queen's Speech: boost for fracking and roads

The Queen has unveiled government plans to boost fracking and road investment.

She included a brief summary of the long-awaited Infrastructure Bill at the official opening of Parliament this morning.

The Queen was outlining the legislation the coalition intends to put through Parliament in the final year of its elected term.

She said: “My government will introduce a bill to bolster investment in infrastructure and reform planning law to improve economic competitiveness.”

The Bill, if approved by MPs and peers, will allow the reform of the Highways Agency and make shale gas easier to access.
