Purfleet regeneration plan unveiled

New plans have been unveiled by Communities Secretary John Denham to help regenerate Purfleet, Essex in the Thames Gateway with new homes and jobs.

As part of the £500 million scheme, investment from a joint public and private sector partnership will go towards creating a new town centre. Nearly 3,000 new homes are expected to be constructed along with the creation of more than a thousand jobs.

The Thurrock Development Corporation is looking for a partner for the intended joint venture.

Around 48 hectares of contaminated and derelict brownfield land could be brought back into use if the scheme is approved. The plan is the latest part of the Government’s Thames Gateway programme.

Thurrock is inviting notifications of interest in becoming a development partner before formal tenders are sent out at the turn of the year.
