Bridges : Products and services

Chloride contamination in Sale Moss Railway Bridge is being combated by the installation of Galvashield sacrificial anode system supplied by Fosroc.

Following breakdown of the waterproof decking, chloride ingress had reached the main spans and support piers. The electrochemical system will protect the steel reinforcement by attracting chlorides to zinc cores in the anodes.

Specialist contractor Brookes (Northern) is undertaking the work for client Trafford Borough Council on the three span reinforced concrete structure, which carries the main Warrington-Manchester commuter line.
