Working with BAA, A site is proving that technology can deliver further process efficiency and reduce project risk - not by replacing existing technology, but by connecting the systems already used by members of the supply chain, and building on their existing systems' functionality. In this way, BAA is able to serve the individual interests of the supply chain participants.

The scale of the work involved on T5 meant that Laing O'Rourke, first tier provider of civil engineering and concrete structures on the project, was having to tender for a large number of work packages. A site delivered an electronic tendering solution that was used on two packages worth more than £10m.

As a result, Laing O'Rourke achieved savings of 70% on the cost of tendering. Its ability to communicate more efficiently and reduce the volume of administration also meant that Laing O'Rourke could significantly reduce the length of the tender process.
