Prediction of spatial uncertainty in pollutant movement

This research project is geared to enhancing risk assessment and improving the risk-based management of sites. It will identify and explain the parameters affecting pollutant retardation and transport.

State of the art chemical tests are being deployed to aid understanding of adsorption behaviour. Findings will be set against statistical data to develop a generic system for predicting adsorption.

The three year research project is being carried out by Dr Fred Worrall at Durham University and is due to finish in 2003.
