Poor subs standard

Letters

The continued increase in ICE subscription is outrageous. In 1996 the retired membership subscription was £12 and the fee to the Engineering Council was £5.50. The 2001 figures are £30 and £7 respectively.

The percentage increases are 150% and 27.3% for the five year period. In this period my total pension has risen 9.9% - which is supposed to be in line with inflation.

When I retired in 1994, my total payment to the ICE was £134.30. Today a similar subscription for a member in London would appear to be £185 and for location B, £174 - an increase of just under 38% and 29% respectively.
